Hello from Maxx. This very good boy seemed to enjoy the holidays, and Santa brought him many toys and treats. He doesn't destroy his toys and prefers rope toys in all shapes and sizes.
Maxx never leaves my side. He is always next to me, whether I'm working, cooking, or working out. Lately, I haven't left the house much except to get groceries. Maxx gets very anxious when I leave and return. He will wait in the mudroom even if other people are home.
Maxx is a master at the Golden nudge and loves to snuggle. If I am done petting him, he will go to the next person in the room. We often laugh at the look of ecstacy on his face when we pet him.
Walking Maxx can be a little scary now that the roads are icy. He can hardly contain his excitement and will often pull hard and turn on a dime. I've learned to anticipate his sudden movements, but it's still a little scary and I ordered some ice studs for my boots.
I was nervous about how Maxx would react to fireworks on New Year's Eve. He barked a bit, but didn't seem to be afraid of them at all.
Maxx is pretty easy-going, and you would not be disappointed to have this sweet guy in your life!

Maxx 20-163 is an affectionate 9-year-old Golden Retriever. He sits happily while being petted and craves a lot of attention.
He came to RAGOM because his owners went into eldercare. He then lived by himself for six months with visits from family three times a day for outside time. Thankfully, after that, he was surrendered to RAGOM.
Maxx is well trained and sleeps through the night. He is not destructive and likes to play with his toys. He loves people and has some anxiety when they leave home.
Maxx should be an only dog, as encounters with other dogs have been stressful for him and he has become reactive.
Children should be 10+ and dog-savvy as smaller children cause him stress.
He loves going on walks, but pulls a lot, especially for the first ½ mile or so. After that, he relaxes a bit and does a lot of sniffing! He will bark at other dogs on our walks, but enjoyed a walk with another Golden after a slow introduction.
Maxx will do best with a fenced-in yard, as this will allow him to run and play freely without fear of other dogs in his space.
He has been diagnosed with corneal dystrophy, which means his eyes are cloudy and have discharge, but otherwise, he is a healthy, happy boy.
Closed to Applications: Many families have submitted applications for Maxx or he is working with an applicant for a potential adoption.
