I am notifying you of Rainy dying on January 2, 2020. The last several months she was having more health problems including weight loss, inner ear disease, and a mass in her abdomen.

My Dad and Emma (yorkiepoo) adopted Rainy in 2013. She was a sweet gentle girl who watched over my Dad all the time. Rainy did not give kisses too easily but when the great grandkids came there was always a kiss for them!

Thank you Rainy for being a faithful companion. We miss you.

Rainy has been at her forever home for 4 months. She has adjusted well. Her furry sister, Emma, is a yorkiepoo and Rainy wants to follow her and likes to go outside when Emma wants to go too. The surgery on her mouth and jaw has healed well. She eats well, but only likes to play a little bit with her toys now. Rainy is a true velcro dog! Her family likes to say that she gives "Rainy snuggies" when she buries her head between your legs and wants to be petted! Rainy is planning to attend the RAGOM Goldzilla event this weekend.

These last few days have been filled with good news. First, Rainy has additional sponsors. Thanks so much to Ralph and Deb Nyquist who have joined Ruth Valgemae to help pay Rainy's medical bills. Rainy's surgery was very expensive, but it was truly life saving as it took an unadoptable dog with no future and gave her the chance to lead the Golden Life. RAGOM can only continue to perform these "miracles" with the help of kind and generous people like you.

The second piece of wonderful news is that Rainy has found her forever home! Yesterday she met Alvin (Bud) M. and his dog, Emma. We think it was love at first sight for all concerned. Rainy went home this afternoon. She and her new sister, Emma, will be enjoying life together while being pampered and loved by Bud. Nothing will be too good for these girls.

Miss Rainy has headed south - to West Central Minnesota - just in time for our late arriving spring! In the five days she has been here, she has completely won our hearts. Rainy is a great laid-back companion. She met our resident dog, Harley, with a few whines and a bark or two, but they have settled in well together. That's Rainy on the right in the picture. Rainy is very happy to be a "second banana" to another adult or senior dog. There's not a dominant bone in her body. We think that she would also do well as an "only dog" provided you have the time to give her the attention she thinks she deserves. She's definitely a Velcro dog who wants to be wherever the action is in the house.

We're amazed at how well she has adjusted to her surgery. She does really well with her soft food and takes her pills inside a piece of soft cheese. She'll always be a bit of "drooler" with the missing lower front teeth, but she does a very thorough job of cleaning up after herself. We've been counting down the days for Rainy until her food and toy restrictions will end. May 20th is the magic day. We know that she LOVES to play with her toys and will finally be able to do that again!

Rainy is ready for her for her furever home. Young children (under 10 years) and very active young dogs might be a bit much for her, but she'll be a great companion for a single adult, an adult couple, or a family with older kids. She does not need a fence and walks well on an Easy Walk Harness. She would be fine with another (mature) dog or would be fine as your only pup. Let your placement advisor know if you'd like to meet this great girl.

Finally, Rainy wants us to send big thank you's to her her first Foster Mom, Bobbi Jo; her temp Foster Mom, Jean, who helped her through the surgery; and her great sponsor, Ruth, who helped to make the surgery possible.

Rainy still has plenty of snow to play in up here in Northern Mn. She loves every minute of it...

Good shot of Rainy's jaw after 3 weeks....looking good!!

Rainy would love to give a big ol sloppy kiss to her new sponsor Ruth! And a big high five with her paw...thank you so much Ruth for thinking of Rainy and sponsoring her!!

Rainy is doing great after her surgery (as you can see in the picture), she has been staying at temp foster Jean's and I cannot thank her enough for keeping her and getting her thru her surgery, you Rock!! Rainy thinks so too...

This photo is of Rainy at a meet and greet and met a lot of wonderful people that just thought she was wonderful, Thanks again to Jean for bringing her out to meet these families.

Rainy has some restrictions that she will need to follow by anyone who is interested in her. No toys of any kind for 6 weeks (4 to go), not hard or soft toys. Only soft food for 6 weeks, after that she can go back to hard food and playing again....those are not tough restrictions to follow for the human, but she loves to play with toys so she may miss it a little. She is ready for her furever home, so if you are interested in her you can ask about her. I wanted to get this picture of her out so you can all see how wonderful she looks and is doing...

Thanks again to Ruth and Jean!!

Well, Miss Rainy had her surgery on Monday! She had to have this done down in the cities, so she is staying with a temp foster for a few days, Thanks so much to Jean for taking this girl in so she could have her surgery and care for her.

Rainy had to have all of her bottom front teeth and that lower portion of the jaw removed in order to get all the tumor. But I have talked to a foster (Thanks Karen) who has had this exact same thing done with her dog back in January of this year and she says her dog adjusted very well, he can eat and drink like a normal dog so no worries there. Rainy is starting to eat a little on her own now and has drank, so they learn very quickly!!! You will see in the side view of this picture you cannot even tell her lower jaw is missing some.  Do not let this deter you from adopting this sweet angel or you will be missing out a great dog.

She is mellow, gentle, velcro dog, she has great recall so does not require a fence, knows her name very well and responds to it, she went after a squirrel and my husband called her back and she came, not many dogs would do that if they are chasing something!!

She respects baby gates, sleeps all night, has had free roam from day one, gets along with other dogs and the previous owner says cats as well. She is just an all around great dog...and very healthy now that we got the benign tumor out of the way, she is good to go...

This is the side view after her surgery!

If you are interested in sponsoring or making a donation to Rainy, to help pay for her expensive surgery, it would be much appreciated...

I thought I would give a little more info on this sweet girl. She is 6 years old and her family says she does well with kids, cats, dogs. I did have her to the vet and she had 2 huge 8 month old huskies barking at her and she did not even react at all. She is a very sweet, mellow, gentle dog. As easy as they come. And wants nothing more than to be by her people (typical Golden).

She has never been on a leash before so she does pull some but not bad. She is completely house broken and whines when she needs to go out. She sleeps all night.

As you can see in the picture, she does love to play with toys and some how manages to do so very well with her tumor in her mouth. She manages to eat dry food very well also, not sure how she does it. I just cannot wait for her to get the help she needs to get rid of this, she will feel so much better! We will keep you informed as to what happens in the next few days.

We had the opportunity to meet Rainy and we recognize that her health care has been expensive.

A portion of Rainy's medical care was paid for by a generous grant from the Golden Retriever Foundation's April Fund.

Rainy is a Golden Mix, female, spayed. She weighs 75lbs. She is up to date on everything.

Rainy will be going to the vet on Monday as she has some sort of tumor in her mouth that you can see in the pictures. Her family had to give her up due to the fact they could not afford her care any longer with the expense of this tumor.

Please keep Rainy in your thoughts and prayers as we move ahead to find out what the outcome will be. If you are interested in being a sponsor or make a donation for this sweet girl, she will need all the help she can get as we move forward with this. Thanks so much and stay tuned...
