Good Morning All,As you can see we have a new youngster at our home. I say that because his first birthday is April 29th. Let me start out saying Mary [my wonderful wife] and I have not had such a young dog before, and this looks like a new adventure for both Duke and us. I picked him up yesterday from his previous home, The couple that had him are moving and could not take him with. He rode to our home ,which is about 85 miles in the backseat without a problem. He was a little excited because he was not used to riding in car, but that is just a learning thing. Upon arriving, he got very excited because he saw my two dogs, when he got out of car and had a great time meeting them. We went into our home and the sniffing thing, both the house and dogs again, He had a couple of accidents, but today that is over. He was just so excited to have two buddies to hang out with, life is good. Now I have to get my dogs to agree with that. It seems they are not used to having a young dog wanting to play and following them around all the time. He did not sleep good last night because of all the new stuff and new home. This morning Mary took him for a two mile walk-run and you can see the results in the picture below, actually his face picture is him laying on the kitchen floor after walk. I believe he just needed some exercise to calm down. The people that were his original family said he was good with kids, they said there four grandchildren from 7 on up he just loved. I do not know on younger children. He is super happy and very friendly and great meeting new people and dogs. I walked up to there front door and he was tied there ,and all he did was wag tail and run around. They said he has jumped there 4 ft. fence to go and visit the neighbors female dog, so I guess he will need a taller wire fence or a wood type. They also said they did not have a problem with there cat, but it was what I call a "dog trained" cat. I do not know if he would get along with a new cat or not. There niece has 6 dogs so the whole family loves dogs and that is where he came from originally. He is a pure bred golden with lighter colored hair. This Thursday is his vet appointment and I will find out weight etc. then. He appears to be in great shape and healthy. No weight problem and his neutering coming up. I believe all his shots are up to date and his family took great care of him. Does not have any fears of males or female humans. It appears that he is just a happy guy. About all he now requires is a family that knows a young dog needs some training. After only three walks with Mary and our border collie, she said he is already doing much better and said he is a smart guy that learns very fast.
