Jake was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM due a family move. Jake is basically healthy but has some common senior issues—cataracts and arthritis. Due to his mobility issues, any children in the home should be age 10+. Jake can live with other dogs but cannot live with cats. Jake's new home should have a physical fence because a tie-out could be difficult with his mobility limitations. Jake needs a home with few steps and a family who enjoys short walks.

Jake has been adopted and is settling in nicely. Here's to many days of happiness, Jake. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with your foster family; you are truly a gem!

Jake arrived at our home on September 19, 2019. He was lovingly surrendered by his family due to a move. Jake was an outside dog and he is quickly learning the comforts of living indoors. He is house trained and has free roam of the house while we are away at work and school.

Jake loves to play with stuffed toys and carry around a tennis ball. He is enjoying the freedom of the fenced yard, something he was missing when his family recently moved.

Big Jake was recently at the vet for his senior wellness and he weighs 97 lbs. Jake will need to lose a few pounds. He is now up to date on his vaccinations and preventatives.

His blood tests revealed he is a healthy boy and everything is functioning normally. He does have arthritis and needs to stay active with daily short walks. He also has cataracts, but still has vision in both eyes. For an old man he is doing very well!

We were prescribed doggy pain meds for Prince's aches and pains and he is getting fish oil and glucosamine supplements. In the short time that we have had Jake at our home, things seem to be improving with his mobility day by day.

We do have a full flight of carpeted stairs that he is not required to climb; however, he has been going up and down without issue. Keeping him active and moving will be very important to loosen up his joints.

Now for the fun parts! Jake was a hit at the vet, no reaction to the other dogs that came and went. He was a perfect patient. He also was at the groomer for his spa day. The staff said he was great and he hung around with another dog there and, again, he had no reaction to the other dogs that came in the door.

Jake is residing with a small, 2-year-old female Golden Retriever and a medium, 4-year-old male Golden Retriever. They all co-exist peacefully. The two foster siblings are very mellow and very respectful to Jake. They enjoy each other's company and do not play together or take things from each other.

The three dogs all free roam together while we are at work and school. Jake would certainly enjoy a pal like one of them, but it is not required. He did live most of his life with a Lab/Pug female, who was his best friend. Jake's previous owner did stress that he cannot live with cats and we will take her word for it!

Our car rides have been wonderful, however Jake is hesitant when getting out of the vehicle. We have taken our last few rides in a car that is very low to the ground and he is able to climb out without a problem. A ramp or steps would be a solution to getting him in and out of an SUV or truck. Jake has also learned how to get himself on and off the couch safely.

Last but not least, Jake does get agitated during thunderstorms. We have had two nights where it stormed and he did pant and pace. Foster Mom took him to the living room, gave him a peanut butter kong, he settled down and eventually went to sleep.

Jake is ready to interview potential adopters. Could you be that special family who can spoil this old guy rotten, keep him active and love him for the rest of his days? If you think Jake may be that extra special addition to your family, please submit an inquiry. There is nothing better than a senior Golden!
