Jasmine 09-461

Profile

Isn't she cute? And most of the time cute is enough. But that isn't all she has going for her; she's smart, too.

Jasmine is a female Golden Retriever / Yellow Lab mix that is 12 weeks old and roughly 20 pounds. She has a thick coat that someone said was "soft like a bunny".

She was brought up from Iowa and has been with us since last Saturday. She walks twice a day and has been doing quite well on a leash. She has begun to ask to go outside when it's time to go potty. She does expect a cookie after doing her "business" and always appreciates a "good girl".

She appears to be in perfect health, but there is one thing that she needs - lots of lovin'. She may be a mix but she is all Golden when it comes to wanting attention from people. Her favorite thing to do is curl up at someone's feet. She sleeps in a crate at night and the crate is always clean and dry in the morning. She will "sing" a little after being "crated up" for the night but that stops after one or two minutes.

Jasmine will need a home where someone can let her outside every few hours or so during the day - until her house-training is complete. She'll also need walks, squeaky dog toys and someone willing to take her to obedience class. But most of all she will need lots of loving attention.

Are you that family? If so, start the adoption process.

We’ve taken Jasmine out to the dog park several times lately. There she can run off-leash with the big dogs. She stays close by us (which is a good sign) and she really appreciates the chance to run and play. Sometimes she gets tired and has a little "lie down" in the swamp (see picture).

She had a little bacterial infection so is taking pills for a few days; not a big problem and she takes the medicine easily. She is still going for walks on leash every day and does well while on leash. Really well considering that she's just a puppy.

And she passed the “baby test”. She spent some time with our one-year-old granddaughter recently. The granddaughter crawled up to her, grabbed a handful of fur, crawled over her, reached down and took the toy from her mouth and all that Jasmine did was to lie there and watch. She’s very good with small children, which is good to see.

Jasmine loves to be with people. As Thanksgiving approached and we needed to get ready for a number of visitors coming to the house to help us be thankful, we had to put Jasmine in her crate during the day for an hour or two. She will “crate up” quite nicely but, boy oh boy, do we get scolded when we returned from our errands and let her out. She gives us the “what for” in no uncertain terms for a few minutes. She is very clear about not liking being separated from her people. A little scratch behind the ear and a belly rub and all is forgiven and everyone is happy again.

Jasmine has a couple coming today to meet and greet. I'm sure that she will like them -- will they like her? We shall see.
