Libby 07-361

Profile

6/3/07:  Libby is an 11-year-old female Golden Retriever. She is a family surrender and arrived at our house yesterday. She had a long car ride to get to Iowa, but she rides great in the car. At first she was a little nervous around our 2 young & rambunctious resident Goldens, but as the evening went on, she started to relax after she realized they will not hurt her. She is housetrained and behaves well in the house. We were told she is trained to pheasant and duck hunt and loves it.

You would never know that she is 11 years old the way she loves to run and retrieve balls in the backyard. She also loves the water since she cannot seem to stay out of our of the little pond in our backyard. She walks great with a Gentle Leader and does not pull at all.

We'll send more updates after she goes to the vet this week and gets settled in at our house.

Libby definitely enjoyed the holidays. We bought her a pink stocking but had to remove the treats until Christmas morning since she would not leave the stocking alone. She has a very good nose and seems to know where the treats are hidden. One night she even was around 10 children, most under the age of 6 and she did very well and the kids loved her. She has been getting a little more stiff in the mornings but we are trying to see if it's only when she has been a little more active than normal. Otherwise, if it progresses we will take her to the vet for a checkup.

See Libby with her Christmas Stocking!

I have been trying to get a couple of more pictures of Libby to post to the web site but she is a little camera shy and won't sit still once I open the camera. However, I finally was able to get a couple of good shots. Ok, maybe treats were involved but it allowed me to get her to sit long enough to take a couple of pictures. One of the pictures included has Libby with her two buddies, our resident dogs Harley & Riley.

I just can't say enough good things about Libby. She is really the perfect companion and loves to be near us at all times. She doesn't need much, just a family to love her through the golden years.
