I am happy to announce that Maverick 20-129 has been adopted. His furever home has people who are home all the time and a fenced yard. He will have a calm home where he can relax and feel safe. He will forever be incredibly loved!

Mav has really settled in. He is still looking for his fur-ever home. The problem is, we really didn’t know what that home should look like.
He’s been with us about 7 weeks now. Before us he was found as a stray, in a foster home and an adoptive home and back at the shelter in a very short amount of time. Of course he would be confused and scared when he came to us.
So now we know more about who he really is. Mav is a very calm senior gentleman. In the house he mostly sleeps, unless he thinks he can score some food, either by giving you puppy eyes to get treats or by sitting extremely close to you while you are eating to hopefully get some leftovers.
He occasionally likes to play with stuffed toys and he just learned about tennis balls by watching his friend Fargo play with them. Outside he likes to explore the yard and roll around in the grass. Oh, and he figured out how to pick the red tomatoes off while leaving the green ones.
Yesterday he had great fun swimming for sticks in the lake with doggie friends Esther and Fargo. He does very well with other dogs now but because he had done some growling at them when he first came to us, we watch him very carefully around other dogs.
He seems to thrive in a calm and free environment. Free roam in the house and in a fenced yard. And, he loves his people and wants them home with him most of the time. He wants his people loving on him a lot. Lots of pets and lots of praise. His motto seems to be the old Beatles song- Love is all you need.

Please take a look at our gorgeous guy after his grooming. He did fantastic throughout the grooming and even flirted with his stylist! She was smitten with him.
He has had a great couple of weeks. He has settled in and seems quite comfortable. This guy needs some time when he goes to a new house so he feels loved and safe.
He is one big lover and really likes tummy and head scratches. He likes to lay on the floor next to you whether you’re on the couch or in your bed. He will greet you at the door every time when you come home. He will happily greet anyone who comes in the house with smiles and wags, he hasn’t jumped up on anyone though.
He has a new skill which showed up this week. He likes to counter surf things that are on the edge of the counter. He can’t reach very far. Yesterday he got into something he shouldn't have. He was pretty proud of himself and wanted to show us what he did as soon as we got home.
He is really settling in and we are seeing his charming personality come out more and more. We would love to find his fur-ever home so he can continue his golden life!

Maverick was brought to a humane society after being found as a stray. He was adopted and returned to the humane society due to an altercation with a small dog. He was then surrendered to RAGOM.
Maverick has been in our foster home for a month. His age is unknown. Our best guess is about 9 years old. He is a very happy guy who loves attention and food.
He is calm in the house and sleeps a lot with occasional bouts of “I want to play”. He really likes his toys, mostly to pull apart stuffed animals. He has not been destructive with anything other than the toys he is given.
He loves being outside and especially in the water. He likes to fetch sticks in the water but doesn't quite get the part about giving them back to you. He is a good swimmer.
He needs time to adjust to his surroundings. He becomes stressed occasionally around other dogs, mostly when they want to come into his space or near a person who is giving him attention.
We have had several instances of growling and one instance of him and our resident dog having a short altercation. There were no bites during these times. Because of this we feel he needs to be an only dog.
He does enjoy the company of our resident dog and he likes to run with her, swim with her and follow her around the gardens; however, in times of stress he may react, especially when they are both around a human giving out attention. As he becomes more and more comfortable with us this is greatly improving.
Maverick is afraid of thunderstorms and wants to lie on the floor near us and hide his head under something. He pants heavily and doesn't sleep well. Then the next day he will gladly sleep and sleep and sleep!
Mav was given his name at the shelter and has had to learn it. He now comes running when we call him, especially if a treat is involved. He is learning to sit. He just loves you paying attention to him. He loves to be pet and will roll to his side for tummy rubs.
He likes to be near his people. We would like for him to find his person. Someone who really wants to love him and adore him. He likes walks on a leash and smelling new things. He is calm in the house and has not been kenneled with us. He has free roam.
He is house trained and goes to the door when he wants to go out. He has had no accidents in the house. He really likes just hanging out in the yard. A fenced in yard where he is open to walk around freely would be best but is not necessary.
He likes children but they should be older so they don't spook him, especially until he gets settled in. He is especially good looking with a lot of grey. We are not sure if the grey is just his coloring or age related.
Maverick has been around a few cats. He is curious about them and may chase them if they run.
Mav has no medical problems. He is up to date on vaccines. He has no problems with stairs and runs like a younger dog. He is very friendly and does not jump up on people. He loves to meet new people and he is free with his smiles and tail wags.
