Hi, it’s me Shadow, and I have been with my foster family for three days now. I have the run of the house and am a really good, happy boy – I wag my tail all the time. All I really want is lots of love and attention. I love the little people in this house (3 and 6) and don’t bark much unless I see people walking outside. I’m in a crate when my humans go to work during the day (apparently one of their rules for all dogs), and because I have never been in one before, it takes quite a few treats and coaxing to get me in there. I’m getting used to it though so I get more cooperative each day.
I have discovered toys and playing fetch and I love it! I could do this all day long…..toys are very cool.
My foster mom told me I am a big powerful boy and need to learn to walk on a leash (another one of their rules). They put this “gentle leader” on my yesterday and have been walking me with it. Man – I have another name of that thing, but they seem to think I walk better with it. I love running in the yard too – lots of space and a fence. I have not been on many walks in the past few years and rally look forward to getting exercise to build my handsome physique and as an outlet for my energy.
There is another dog that lives here. I have not been around many dogs and am still checking her out. She is kind of a pain – always in my face, throwing her toys and wanting to play. I kind of ignore her but am getting more curious about her.
I have to go to the vet on Saturday to get checked out, and then I will be ready to meet my forever family. As you can see, I’m pretty amazing. My foster mom has told me I have two things I need to work on. The first is walking, and with that gentle leader thing I have to walk nice. The second is jumping - I jump on people because I love them and want to hug them. My foster mom thinks it is annoying (yup, rule number three – no jumping on people or counters). I listen to her though when she tells me to get off. It’s going to take a bit of work though to break me of this habit because I haven’t had much obedience training and this is a kind of a new thing for me. I do really like it when I do the right thing and get lots of treats, and in case you haven’t realized, I love to please people.
I’ll let you know how the vet visit goes, and I’m super healthy so not worried about it. Go ahead and email placement
ragom [dot] org if you want to meet me!
