With sadness, we tell you that Sugar died in her sleep last night after a few days of being sick and unable to stand or walk on her own. She is now free of her joint pain and running like the good old days. She is chasing balls and enjoying her freedom.
She was in RAGOM’s care for seven short weeks, but she was loved by her foster family, Tyson, many volunteers, and of course, brother Gunner.
Goodbye sweet, girl!

Sugar is 12 years old and supposedly litter mates with Gunner- you would never guess by looking at them.
Sugar is more yellow lab looking and Gunner is more Golden looking in color and feathering.
Sugar and Gunner joined RAGOM a month ago after their second family was deployed for the Air Force. This is the second family they have lost due to serving our country. Thank you to these folks! Now, it is our time to serve Sugar and Gunner!
They will need to be adopted together as Gunner (who is deaf) is dependent on Sugar.
Sugar enjoys our walks throughout the day. She has some energy and often will burst into a trot for about 10-12 steps, then settle into a rhythm on our walks. She’ll play ball too, but more like keep away from Gunner.
She has joint issues and a hip that has caused her some stiffness. With a couple Rx she has been moving much better. She has lost weight with our walks and giving her a higher protein diet.
She does well with Tyson our Golden Retriever, who also is 12 and has been around over 100 RAGOM dogs. On our walks, she’ll walk beside Tyson and bump him. They are cute together.
She looks for attention on her terms. She sticks her head between my legs, signaling it is time for a back scratch. She was leery of hip rubs, but now enjoys a massage on those old joints. She enjoys being brushed out.
One day, I was working out and Sugar started to dance with me, it was so cute. I thought I was seeing things, but she kept on dancing.
We don’t know about cats. Sugar perks up when she sees ducks, geese, squirrels or birds but doesn’t attempt to chase them.
She has a sweet personality and spends most of her day taking naps.
Gunner and Sugar are a sweet senior couple that need a home for napping and to hang out for their remaining life. How are your floors? Do you want to find a spot in your home where they can rest? If not, please consider sponsoring our senior dogs to help offset their expenses.
