RAGOM Volunteer: Denise A.

Denise A. joined RAGOM in May 2010 as a foster and has also served on the hotline team, as intake director, boarding coordinator, and a foster mentor. She currently volunteers on the behavioral services, home visit, and transport teams.

"I've been involved in USDA/AFIS breeding operation seizures and several breeder auctions. My focus now is working with breeders to help with dogs they no longer want or cannot sell. I have a soft spot in my heart for the breeder dogs, having fostered a litter of four-week-old pups with parvo, to fostering and adopting Willow 12-112, who came in from a March 2012 auction.

"My philosophy and hope is to always do what is best for the dog. I am constantly amazed at the dedication and enormous hearts of RAGOM volunteers when I've arrived in Minnetonka at 2:00am on a Sunday morning with a van full of scared, smelly dogs straight from an auction, to find a crew of smiling volunteers ready for whatever is needed to get these dogs started on their new lives as cherished family members.

"Well, it makes all of the miles traveled well worth it and gives me the energy to do it all over again."
